My wife found a toad in the recycling bin this afternoon. I was having a hard time getting out so my wife set it free. For some reason Katie wanted to hit the toad with a stick but I told her that toads are good for us. They eat all kinds of bugs and such. I wonder where she has gotten this aggressive behavior as of late? The hitting and wanting to hit with sticks? My wife thinks that she is picking it up from school. She was not this aggressive before she started school.

This evening we packed up Katie and went to the Maple Dairy Farms for an ice cream. I had pumpkin spice ice cream…delish. There was a guy out front of the store who made Katie a monkey balloon (see photo to the right). We gave him a $1.00 tip.
Last stop this evening was Trader Joe’s for supplies. Katie liked the free chips and salsa they were offering up. Alas I gave her the plate and she dropped the salsa on the floor (what a mess)…lesson learned.
When we got home Katie kept asking about the toad so we took a flashlight into the tree in front of our house to see if it was there. I told her that it probably hopped away…it had to have some supper and go to bed. Sure enough, when we arrived at the tree it was gone. She seemed satisfied with my answer.
While my wife put the groceries away I played with Katie. We ended up making paper cut-out dolls of barn animals. I made a paper barn for them and we tucked them inside and put a paper blanket and paper pillow with them as well.
This evening Katie came running up to me to say good night. I guess my wife was trying to put her to bed and she said that she had to say good-night to daddy first.
WHAT I LEARNED TODAY
