My wife is sleeping and my mother-in-law took little Katie for a walk, so I’m up early. I called my mother and she wished me a Happy Father’s Day. I bet we both never thought we would see the day when I was a father.
I got a Father’s Day card from little Katie today (see the photo to the right), but someone I suspect that my wife filled it out… The cover states: “From your daughter, Dad – to remind you of all those dad and daughter times we’ve shared…and how much you’ve always made me feel special and loved. Happy Father’s Day. Her note inside was: Dear Daddy, I know I make you tired, but I love you! And I know that you love me… And I know that you know that I love you… Your Chipmunk (i.e.: – Katie). Sounds like a take-off of the “Chippy Chippy Chipmunk” song to me…
I’ve managed to get my new laptop set up, so my mother-in-law will be able to use my old one. It will be nice for her to have her own computer to read the news, check her email, and do a Skype if/when she wants.
No rest for daddy even on Father’s Day. We have a couch that needs repair, but instead of investing in a new one we decided to fix this one. A little bit of plywood underneath the cushions and it’s as good as new. At least now we have time to do some shopping for a new couch…
I made some banana bread this afternoon. My mother-in-law has never had it before, so it was a special treat. I found a ready mix at Trader Joe’s, but I added two fresh bananas and that really took the flavor up a notch.
10:18pm – I’m still up…updating this blog. Little Katie started to scream but I went into the nursery and put the pacifier back into her mouth. She’s back asleep now…
WHAT I LEARNED TODAY

1) Little Katie can write (???). At least I have a Father’s Day card from her…
