Day #695 (Tue., Nov 29, 2011) – Katie’s First TuTu

Off to Trader Joe’s for some supplies today. I haven’t been there in a while so we are pretty well running out of almost everything. My wife wants me to get some chicken broth and a whole chicken so that she can make soup for Katie. They say chicken soup is good for you when you have a cold. We also ran out of berries and goat’s milk.

Katie got her first TuTu (see photo to the left) in the mail today. My wife thinks that we will start taking her to dance class early in the new year…and that is right around the corner. We started looking for some YouTube videos for toddler’s in TuTu’sto show Katie.

Katie also got some baby underwear as we will be teaching her to potty train soon. These ones have various cartoon characters on them, like Dora the Explorer and Blue and Sponge Bob Square Pants. My wife wanted me to look into various potty training videos to show Katie to get her prepared. Here are three:

2) How To Potty Train A Toddler
3) Potty Training Advice

This evening I baked some Christmas cookies via the Christmas cookie cutters that my wife bought recently. We didn’t have any baking soda or baking powder so I put in extra applesauce…they turned out okay. Here’s the recipe…

01) Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
02) Spray some non-stick spray on a cookie sheet.
03) Mix the try ingredients together…
a) 3/2 cup rolled oats put through a blender to make flour.
b) 1/2 cup whole wheat flour.
c) 1/2 teaspoon salt.
d) 1/2 teaspoon baking powder (didn’t have it this time…but try this next time).
e) 1/4 cup raisins.
04) Mix the following wet ingredients together and mix with the dry…
a) 1/2 cup applesauce.
b) 1/4 cup honey.
05) Roll into a thin dough on some wax paper.
06) Use cookie cutters to cut the various Christmas shapes.
07) Transfer these cookies to the cookie sheet for baking.
08) Add a dusting of maple syrup and pure fruit jam to some of the cookies.
09) Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
10) Enjoy…

Of course Katie wouldn’t eat any when I offered it to her…I think she is a bit disgusted with us at bringing food to her for the past few days. We were concerned that she wasn’t eating and wanted to offer various foods to her in case one or two would take…
