I set the alarm for 6 am this morning and my Bobby and I got up and went down for breakfast. We wanted to beat the “hockey bunch” to ensure that there was at least some food available before the locusts descended! I had the full buffet, but for some reason Bobby wasn’t hungry and only had a yogurt. Bacon is a big draw at the buffet for Bobby but today they only had sausage!

At 7 am the pool opened and “Success”, we were able to beat the crowd. Bobby enjoyed the water slide (see photo to the right) and he and I both enjoyed the regular pool and especially the nice hot jacuzzi. I was joking that what they needed was a car seat with a seat belt, so that it would hold you in place and you could relax and fall asleep without fear of drowning.
We retreated to the hotel room to rest and relax. Cable TV movies, a bit of chess, and the ever present iPad. It was raining like mad, so no RC boat fun for today!
Bobby had a hankering for another A&W Teen Burger this afternoon, so I stopped off at the A&W across the street to get him one for $4.99 as they are on sale. On the way out I noticed that the pool was empty, but by the time I got back Bobby had fallen asleep, so I decided to let him rest. When he got up he felt sick, and actually threw up. He took a bath after that and felt so much better that we trotted off down to the pool area once again. Alas, the pool was packed again, this time with First Nations participants. They must open up the pool area to them on Sunday evening! Bobby doesn’t want to use the pool if there are lots of people, so back up to the hotel room we went again.
The Blue Jays lost to the Mariners this evening in the first game of the World Series. I remember that the Blue Jays won the World Series back in 1992, when I had just arrived in Australia. I let out a quiet sigh — small disappointment, but fitting for how the day had gone. I told Bobby that my father, unlike my mother, was not into watching television too much, but he did enjoy watching the World Series games in the fall. I remember him watching the afternoon games when I got home from school.
Bobby and I also watched a bit of the “Bumblebee” movie that was airing on one of the cable TV channels in the hotel room.
Back in Courtenay my wife put the Schitt’s Creek puzzle she finished into a frame.
Except for “Spot” the chickens perched at 6:08 pm today. She perched at 6:17 pm and the pole that I put up is perfect for her. My wife doesn’t need to pick her up and put her into place anymore, she does it herself. My wife put a bulb in the coop and it turns on at 5:45 pm so the chickens will be able to see their roosting area when it’s dark outside. We still need to shut the little door to the coop, and my wife plans to turn the bulb off remotely once we see that they are asleep.
