My wife was not feeling well this evening so she went to bed and I took care of Katie. Things went rather smoothly…at first…
The hockey game was on television so I took the opportunity to tell her about the fine points of the game. How they have fancy shoes called “skates” on their feet. How those guys who are dressed up like zebras are called “referees” and they make sure that the players stick to the rules.
We then turned our attention to magnets. I took out two of the darts from her dart board and showed how the handle of a pen would stick to one of them. I asked Katie “what does this mean the pen handle is made out of”? Metal she replied. She remembered my instruction from the last time we talked about magnets.
Katie then managed to find a spider somewhere and it was soon in a white plastic container (see photo to the left). She wanted to make sure that it didn’t get out so I put the black top on the container. For some reason she really took to that spider. I was worried that it might be a “biter” so I threw it outside when she wasn’t looking. She didn’t like that one little bit.
It was a struggle to get the PJ’s on Katie. She realizes that this mean she will soon need to go to bed…so she put up quite a struggle. I did give her a concession in regards to the top she wanted to put on. She said she wanted a butterfly top but when I couldn’t find it she settled for a giraffe top. Not quite a match for the bumble bee bottoms she had on…but I wasn’t in no mood to coordinate her fashion this evening.
Katie, realizing that she would be off to bed soon, wandered into the bedroom and woke up my wife (under the disguise of showing her the spider she found). She screamed so much when I tried to get her out of the bedroom that my wife finally relented and got up to take care of her. At least she got a few hours sleep…
