Day #1243 (Thu., May 30, 2013) – Cutting PJ’s With Scissors

2013-05-30 - Barrel Of MonkeysI went to Wal-Greens Pharmacy at noon today to pick up some muscle cream and saw a “Barrel of Monkeys” (see photo to the right)…a toy I used to play with when I was younger. It sure has gone up in price. It used to be $0.99 when I was a kid and now it is going for $5.99. Anyway, I thought Katie might like it so I picked it up.

As I was about to leave the store I noticed a pair of children’s scissors (with blunt ends) and some purple children’s glue sticks…so I picked them up as well.

This evening I gave Katie the “Barrel of Monkeys” but she really didn’t get the hang of it as I had thought. She took the individual monkeys and hung them from the knobs on the dresser drawers. She is soooo into decorating these days.

Katie was looking for her scissors this evening so I gave the new ones I picked up along with a glue stick. It started off fine…cutting construction paper…but Katie is always looking for new things to cut. My wife told me that she caught her hiding behind the couch cutting her PJ’s so her punishment is that now she can only use scissors when we can see her.

Later in the evening Katie and I played an imaginary game on the couch. We pretended that the green pillow was a fish and we would take turns eating it. She would howl with laughter as she took a bite. I told her that I couldn’t eat mine without ketchup. Soon we had made an imaginary flat fish out of another pillow and were eating that.
