I got up just after 7am and met my exhausted wife as she came into the bedroom. Apparently she has been up of and on through the night attending to our “night owl” chipmunk… 🙂 She told me to take the monitor and if little Katie starts to make noises just put the pacifier in her mouth and turn the toucan (on the Waterfall Soother) attached to the crib on.
Not soon after I took the monitor little Katie started to grumble. I put the pacifier in her mouth and a strange thing happened. Little Katie actually took it in her hands and looked at it and put it back into her mouth. Absolutely amazing! Usually she spits it out…but she seemed to like it this morning.
7:46am – I just looked in on little Katie and she has gone off into dreamland. She is sleeping on her side with the pacifier in her mouth. I’ll have to mention to my wife a trick I learned. I’ve noticed that when you put little Katie to bed, if you stroke her cheek for a bit she will give you a broad smile and this seems to calm her down enough for sleep.
Little Katie is playing with the spinner on her Jumperoo (see photo to the right). This is the first time that she has done that. It seems that she has interest in different aspects of the Jumperoo at different spans of her short life.
2:45pm – My wife and I went for a diaper run to Target. On the way home we stopped off at Kid-To-Kid and my wife picked up a couple of sleeping bags for little Katie.
The series finale of “Lost” was on tv tonight. Little Katie is a bit young for science fiction, but one day…
