This afternoon I took Bobby to the Beaver Convenience Store down the road. He wanted to buy the action figure that his penpal at Aspen Park School, Amadeo, said that they sold there. He found it, but they didn’t have any red/black ones like the one in the display case left, so he choose white/black (see photo to the right). I actually like white/black better and he spent all afternoon assembling it (a few times). He also picked up some bubble gum and a soft drink shaped container of gummies to share with his sister. Let’s call this Daddy/Son Day #108.
Katie spent a lot of today working on her digital marketing course. It dealt with SEO and I told her about my experiences with it during the late 2000’s and 2010’s. Starting off with Yahoo and their search engine algorithm, then to Google and purchasing keywords. Now AI is threatening Google’s dominance in this field.
Katie and her mother spent some time this afternoon working on Katie’s PT intake form. Meeting is next week.
Let’s talk about the “nurses strike”… A blurb: “Beginning today, nurses will no longer perform non-nursing duties, allowing them to focus on the work they were trained to do—providing safe, quality patient care. In addition, nurses will be refusing all non-essential overtime hours. This marks the first phase of a broader escalation plan that could expand in the coming days if the government does not return to the bargaining table with an offer nurses can accept.”
Down in Duncan, my wife’s boss Donna, and workmates Kara and Jen, already started working evening shifts at hospice, etc. So far they are leaving her out of it due to the long drive to Duncan. Donna is the director for Cowichan community care, hospice included. She needs to make sure they are covered. Hospice has a clerk 4 hours a day, nurses used to take care of everything during the rest of time. They are not allowed from today per union directives. Kara is the manager for community services and Jennifer is “like” their secretary, she helps with everything. She is also the building manager.
