Day #6069 – (Tue., Aug. 18, 2026) – Pebbles Attacks Silkie!

Bobby was watering the flowers off the front porch this afternoon (see photo to the right) when a boy rode up on a bike. It was Mitchell, the boy down the road who goes to a French school in the Courtenay area. Bobby rode off with him on his eBike. Soon he was back, changed, and then went with Mitchell and his family to the local pool. When he got home this evening he took a nice relaxing bath.

Katie wanted to drive this afternoon so I picked her up at the main house at 3:30 pm. The traffic was unusually busy today, not exactly sure why, so Katie wanted me to drive at first. I told her that she could take over whenever & if ever she wanted. I gave her the option of going to Crown Isle but she declined. I said another place we could go that would have less traffic was the Griffith Pub area, and I drove around this area to show her what it would be like.

Next up was to Starbucks for some refreshment. Katie picked up a drink and a cake pop. I picked up a small coffee with some oat milk. Simple snacks for Daddy/Daughter Chat #51.

We made our way to the Dove Creek area, and Katie was more comfortable with driving in this area, so she took over. When it as done, she had added another 30 minutes of driving to her total.

Our neighbor Carolyn gave Bobby some bubbled today (see photo to the left). He enjoyed feeling like a kid again!

Katie was out on the swing this evening when she saw an owl. He’s hanging around the barn no doubt because of food sources like mice, rats, rabbits, and snakes. Katie thinks that he might have been taking a dust bath in the gravel next to where we park the Camry.

On the chicken front my wife punished Pebbles, our rooster, today by letting only the hens out. He was attacking Silkie. Apparently Hazy went to the fence and stayed with him. She was also attacking Silkie earlier in the day. Silkie is puffed up like a ball, broody and won’t stop talking. Maybe she got on Pebbles nerves!
