Day #6093 – (Fri., Sep. 11, 2026) – Entrepreneurship Class!

I’m not sure why, photos of a late 1960’s CCM Mustang bike are quite rare on the internet. Having said that, I did find one (see photo to the left). It was my “Pride & Joy” as a kid! I remember going to Tibbett’s Paints (now called Chase’s Color Center) on Prince Street in Truro, NS on one sunny Saturday morning before summer vacation one year! Around 1968 or 1969? My mother used to get her hair done by a lady on Walker Street (I think her nickname was Frenchie?) around the corner. It had three speeds and you needed to pedal backward, not forward, when you shifted gears. I remember outfitting my with a “Sissy Bar” at the back of my banana seat. I also remember getting up one morning, probably the day after I bought it, bright and early as soon as the sun got up, and before anyone else in the house was up, and riding it around our huge motel driveway and parking lot area.

Bobby is still sick today so my wife made an appointment for him at Urgent Care this afternoon since our regular physician is on vacation. I went along so that the doctor could look into my knee pain as well. Bobby got a prescription, I did not. It was decided for me that since there was nothing urgent I should wait for my family doctor to return. This seems to be the generic prescription here in Canada when it comes to health care…wait…

The doctor told Bobby that he should put some Vicks into a big basin of hot water and breath it in under a towel. I haven’t thought of that since I was a kid and boy did it ever work in clearing up the congestion.

On the Katie side of the equation, you can see her class load in the photo to the right. She is really enjoying her entrepreneur class. The teacher told her that they will be learning three things: (1) entrepreneurship, (2) marketing, and (3) management. Katie said she wants to learn all three. Great skills, I agreed. They are going to even set up a shop to sell things at lunch and Katie will be one of the managers! They needed four managers but only two volunteered as it means giving up part of your lunch hour…

While we were at Urgent Care Katie stayed home and did her entrepreneurship homework so that she could do math homework with mom once we got back.

Oh, and as we waited in the car for my wife to get Bobby’s prescription at Shopper’s Drug Mart (which we needed to go back for), Bobby and I got to talking about Minecraft and why he enjoyed it so much. She said that it gave him an opportunity to talk to Ethan. Hmmmm… Maybe it will also give him an opportunity to talk to dad? Thinking…
