Day #2719 (Wed., Jun. 14, 2017) – Miss Barbara Swimming Lessons
Another work from home day today. I will be working from home on Wednesday’s from now on.
Katie had a swim lesson with Miss Barbara this afternoon so my wife took Bobby along as well. Today was so much different than yesterday. Miss Barbara gave her some pointers on how to get Bobby adjusted to the water. What they did was put a little toy inside a plastic Easter egg. It would float on the water, so when you threw it into the pool Bobby was eager to go get it. His little mind could not process the fun of the toy with the fear of the water, so the fun of the toy won out. He had a great time and we’re excited about the fact that he is getting over his fear of swimming and will hopefully be in great shape when we go to Great Wolf Lodge this weekend.
Katie is really improving in her swimming. She is able to swim under water for a distance of about 10 feet now. She seems to really work hard at it and this helps to “tire her out” so that she is ready for bedtime (theory). She was wild again tonight. I’m not sure if it is the “dread” of having to go to bed that gets her so wild and excited and worked up. I told my wife that I’m going to have to remember to give her a hug in the evenings when this happens. This might calm her down and give us the opportunity to discuss any problems or difficulties that she might be having.
