Today Katie and I had Daddy/Daughter Chat Day #2. For starters I took her to the Carolina Coffee Shop on Franklin Street because it is the oldest original restaurant in Chapel Hill, and we have free parking on a nearby lot on Sunday. They don’t serve blender drinks, so we ended up at the Starbucks Drive Thru on MLK (near Chick-Fil-A) so that Katie could get a “Pink Drink” (featuring the bold fruit flavors of strawberry and açaí combined with coconut milk and refreshing fruit juice). I got a large black coffee with two Splenda.
From here we headed towards Pittsboro where we saw some very expensive homes in various sub-divisions. I then took her to Damascus Church Road to see farms with rolling hills. We managed to get “semi-lost” and stopped off at a general store off “Chicken Bridge Road” (see photo to the right) to ask for directions. The black lady at the counter was very helpful in giving us directions so we bought some sodas, used the “outhouse” outside her store, and were off back to Chapel Hill. She told us that this is a “dead zone”, which is why we could not bring Google Maps up on our phones.
While driving we talked about how Bobby seems to get away with stuff like saying bad words and playing on his iPad while he owes money for his Roblox infraction. He was caught texting bad words to his friend Brin later today, so he’s in the “dog house” for a while. So much for getting away with stuff…
When we got back home Bobby and I finished off the movie “Terminator 2”. Bobby was asking a question regarding “Is there is someone who sounds and looks like a young Edward Furlong from the Terminator 2 movie, but appears on another creepy movie or YouTube video”. I didn’t know the answer so we asked Bard. Bard replied: “The actor you are thinking of might be Charlie Heaton. He is an English actor who is known for his roles in the Netflix series Stranger Things and the film The New Mutants. He has a similar look to Edward Furlong, especially when he was younger”. Bobby said that this wasn’t who he was referring to, so the search goes on…
I asked Bobby if he wanted to work on the model car today but he was not interested. I think these old model kits from the 1960’s don’t interest him as they are not as quick to build as Legos. We’ll see… I mentioned it to Katie though and she wants to join in.
