Day #5342 – (Wed., Aug. 21, 2024) – Katie “First Viola”

The two other viola players voted Katie to be “1st Viola” for the concert on Friday! You can see the orchestra camp in the photo to the left.

I had a 2pm video chat with a Telus doctor this afternoon. She is going to refer me to a rheumatologist.

Bobby had a new friend come over for a play date today. My wife sent out a message on Facebook to see if anyone was interested in a play date, and his mother was one of the ones to respond. She had to rush back home, but Bobby and he enjoyed playing around the house this afternoon. Apparently he also plays Roblox, but there was to be no screen time today, so they played “Hide & Seek”.

There was a bit of “Chicken Drama” this evening! I let them out of their coop this afternoon so that they could run around and have some fun. Well, it started to rain and only one of them was smart enough to venture back to the safety and warmth of the coop. The rooster and the other hen were holed up on the roof of the coop (see photo to the right), and didn’t seem to be in any hurry to come back till the rain let up.

The problem is, there are predators around, like raccoons, foxes, and even owls. After some debate about what to do, my wife had the bright idea to just pick the rooster up, and then the hen, and safely take them back to the coop. Well, low and behold, that worked! She truly is the “Chicken Whisperer”. I thought the rooster would fly at her, as it is known to do, but my wife said it looked tired. Perhaps past it’s bedtime… 🙂 Anyway, problem solved. I sure won’t be letting them out if there is any chance of rain in the future. It takes the saying “Too stupid to come in out of the rain” to a whole new level.
