Day #5344 – (Fri., Aug. 23, 2024) – Comox Valley Exhibition

We learned that Bobby will be in a “non-split” grade 4 class this year, division 11, and his teacher will be Debbie Nelson.

My wife and I went to the orchestra performance of the kids in downtown Comox this morning. They did great! I got to meet Daisy, the kid’s Suzuki teacher, for the first time today.

This afternoon the whole family went to the “Comox Valley Exhibition” across the street from Vanier High School. It was smaller than the ones we used to have in Truro, but I think that this is because it’s not a “Provincial Exhibition”. I planned to just drop the family off and come back and pick them up when they were ready, but there was almost nobody there, so I decided to park the van and go inside as well. It was Senior Day today so I got in for half price, which is $5.

We went to see dogs fetching a toy that was thrown into a swimming pool first. Next up was a lumberjack exhibit. We then worked our way into the bar where they were judging various things, from flowers to vegetables to desserts. They even had a competition for Lego projects. You can see Katie and Bobby horsing around with one of those funny “Put Your Face In” backdrops (see photo to the left).

When we got home I gave the chickens some tortillas that I “air fried” in the Ninja. They were a bit burned and the chickens wouldn’t go near them. Interesting, eh? I thought that they would eat them even if they were burned.

I don’t think we are going to go with Darcy as the painter for the garage. He wants $3200, which is a lot of money to paint a garage. I think I will do it myself. I don’t think Anthony is too thrilled with this, mainly because if I am slow it will prevent him from getting his money, as he will get his money after he has completed his job, which is after the painting is done. He doesn’t have to worry, but I’ll maybe give him most of the money before painting starts, and the total amount after he has completed the project.
