Day #5572 – (Tue., Apr. 8, 2025) – Minecraft Soccer Jersey

My wife went to get her iPhone repaired this morning. She thought that she might have to leave it, but she did not. This is great as since we are so tethered to our devices these days not being without it would be quite an adjustment.

My wife is in the process of “stretching” Bobby’s soccer jersey (see photo to the left). I jokingly said that he would wear it as is as he would look like a Minecraft character.

I picked up Bobby after school at Huband today. He’s back to playing soccer during recess and lunch now. Now that the two “aggressive boys” are not allowed to play together there is more of a less hostile and more cooperative spirit, which is nice.

After picking Bobby up I went to get Katie. We decided to have a drive around town, effectively making this Daddy/Daughter Chat Day #26. She told me that she got “Extensions” for her school work. Quite a strange word, but it actually means great! When I was a kid if you got an extension it usually meant that an assignment that was due say tomorrow, would not need to be passed in till next week. I’m not sure why schools keep playing around with all these name and scoring standards. Even when I was a kid they went from A+ to 100% to “Satisfactory” and all over the place.

My wife took Bobby to soccer practice this evening in the rain. It let up which was nice. Sixteen boys showed up. The two coaches present really worked them hard. They were taught skills on how to kick, find an open player, and pass the ball back and forth. Unfortunately, as the coach was calling the boys over one boy accidentally kicked the ball and it hit Bobby’s ear. The coach didn’t see it and the boy didn’t appologize.

Chinese import tariffs to the US are to rise to 104% after midnight tonight. Who knows what this will due to world trade and such. The stock market is all over the place today. It opened up high, but then closed low. Nobody knows what to do, or how to react. I’m told even if they did manage to bring Apple iPhone manufacturing to the US after years of planning and work, the cost of iPhones would rise to $3500 each as American workers would want a good wage to assemble them. This is before robots take over the factory jobs of course.
