Day #5604 – (Sat., May 10, 2025) – Stunned Bird!

My wife took Bobby to soccer this morning. Today was “scrimmage” day! Since there were 7 teams we needed one more to be 8 teams, so they split Bobby’s team in half. Voila! Eight teams!

While they were away a bird flew into the window of the house and was “stunned” on the ground. When they came back (with a special treat of McDonalds I might add), my wife and Katie took the bird to the Mars Rescue Center up on Island Highway near where we stayed when we first moved to Courtenay. They said that if the bird survives they will call us and we can release it back into the wild in our neighborhood.

What did I get up to this morning? Prep day! I made the “concoctions” for the four storage containers that came with the Creami unit I picked up last night at Costco. I utilized the ingredients I picked up last night at “Thrifty Foods” (see photo to the right). After mixing them I put them in the freezer so they will be cold and ready for the “Big Surprise” tomorrow! Here are the four that I decided upon. Oh, and Copilot helped me with the ingredients:

  1. Classic Vanilla ice cream (as a standard). We might add some toppings in to this base tomorrow as an extra bonus!
  2. Watermelon ice cream (for my wife). It is her birthday and Mother’s Day and Anniversary gift mind you. I’m going to bring some cut up dates to add into the mixing phase if my wife wants.
  3. Chocolate M&M ice cream (for Katie). The chocolate is mixed and frozen so we can try that first. Katie can add the M&M’s to the mixing cycle.
  4. Mint Oreo Cookie ice cream (for Bobby). Bobby really loved those mint Leprechaun ice cream cones we used to get at Aldi around St. Patrick’s Day, so I think he will love this. I mixed some of the mint center into this ice cream base. I will bring some mint Oreo Cookies that he can smash up and add to the mixing phase if he wants.

So that’s it. I think that’s a pretty good selection of four “ice creams” to start. It will at least show the family how it works and what to do. They can experiment with the ingredients and options from there…

Katie helped her mother make spaghetti for dinner this evening. Bobby played his violin (after Katie nagged him)!
