Day #5625 – (Sat., May 31, 2025) – “Tail Less” Rooster!

Our poor rooster got the worst of “whatever” got him last night. He now has no tail!!! (see photo to the left).

It was raining so Bobby didn’t go to soccer this morning. My wife doesn’t want him to get injured before the camp that his class is having this Tuesday. He played with Ethan a lot today and also worked on the Lego “Planet Set” that he got for Christmas.

Katie was stressing out about the potential of getting into Harvard or not, and doing the math SAT, so took her out for a drive this afternoon to try and calm her down. It seemed to work as she played her viola as soon as she got home. She even made lunch for Bobby (see photo to the right), and my wife as well. This was effectively Daddy/Daughter Chat #33.

I mowed half the pasture area in front of the “Barn Suite” this evening (see photo to the left). The mower might have been struggling so I decided to give it a rest. I will do the other half tomorrow. The clippings went to the coop for the chickens to enjoy tomorrow morning before I get up. I have a pathway of meal worms and other goodies leading up and under it. They will kick the clippings all over the place to get to them! Fun, fun, fun! The rooster was actually roaming around the coop earlier today, so maybe keeping the gate closed gives him a sense of security.

My wife read that weasel’s will attack roosters from the back. She read online that another rooster lost it’s tail due to the encounter. I wonder if a weasel got into the coop somehow?
