Day #5712 – (Tue., Aug. 26, 2025) – Crab Apple Jelly?

The gate works great on keeping the deer out (as least so far). Bunnies? Not so much! (see photo to the right).

Apparently Katie has to turn 16 first and take the theory test before she can attend driving school. Once she completes this theory test, they will give her a learner’s license and then she can go to driving school. We need to get a driving book at Service Canada. There is an online version of this book, but you can’t “mark it up”, which is nice. It is in Katie’s interest to get this done ASAP if she wants to be able to drive while still a student.

My wife went to Costco this morning to pick up her new glasses. She then swung by CIBC to confirm her identity and get a Costco Credit Card.

The kids helped my wife pick some crabapples off our trees this afternoon (see photo to the left). They then cleaned them and prepped them for the next step. It took four 30-minute Instant Pot rounds, separating pulp, and two 1-hour long juice/sugar boils, to ‘hopefully’ get to jelly. The jars are still hot, so it’s hard to tell how it turned out. The plan is to freeze them, and if they are good enough, give them to neighbors and friends.

Maple got a wash and “blow dry” this afternoon.

We paid the $25 student fee for Katie to attend Vanier and $55 for her year book as well.

Here’s a property down the road that just went up for sale.

I initiated a $7000 transfer from Fidelity this morning and it was in my RBC bank account by afternoon. Fast! Sure beats all the forms and frustration of dealing with ETrade on this same issue.
