My wife and our neighbor Carolyn took Maple and Niska out for doggie walks this morning.

I put up a 2×4 for the chickens to roost on. Valentine sometimes ends up on the floor in the morning and we are wondering if he falls off the perch at night. A 2×4 is much more stable than a round perch.
Katie arrived home this afternoon. She won a leadership award! She was 1 in 6 who won out of about 33 kids. She has been asked to come back next year as a youth leader and is super excited. You can see her with some of her new friends in the photo to the right.
On the way back from Lake Cowichan they stopped off Subway in the Nanaimo mall to eat. Now Katie can say that she has been to the Nanaimo mall as well!
Katie was telling us that one of the exercises they had at the camp was to drop and egg from above and somehow protect it. They could devise whatever method they wanted and had a few supplies. Her team decided to use straws and tape as a “cushion” against the fall.
Esca came over for a play date with Bobby this afternoon. His father picked him up at our house later this afternoon.
I went to the Superstore for groceries this evening. I got some Mango juice for our little leader (as a bit of a memory of when she devised the “Mango” game at her elementary school in Chapel Hill. I was hoping to find some “Tater Tots” as well, but the closest I could find was some mini hashbrowns so I picked up a package of those. I also picked up some blueberry muffins for “BoBo” our 2nd leader in training.
