Day #5811 – (Wed., Dec. 3, 2025) – McDonald’s Coupons!

Bobby seems to have caught something so he stayed home from school today. My wife and I seem to have caught the same thing and have been tired all day. Katie seems fine though. All three of us napped this afternoon.

Today is Day #3 of the Advent Calendar. A good ole “standby” gift that we got last year and this is McDonald’s coupons (see photo to the right). For only $6 (they were only $5 last year so inflation takes a bite in these as well) you get a coupon for two small coffees (which I use), two cheeseburgers, two medium fries, and two ice cream cones or turnovers. If you purchased them separately they would be $28.40 CDN$ including taxes (according to ChatGPT) so quite the deal! I rip the coupons up and put individual items into the various slots rather than put the whole book in.

In preparation for next year’s Advent Calendar, when the kids will be helping me find goodies to fill them out, I asked Katie if she wanted to help out a bit this year. There are 21 days, three full weeks, left to go this year, and it might be a good time to see the pros and cons of the exercise.

Here’s what Daisy said about last night’s viola lesson: “It was lovely chatting with Kirby and Katie today 🙂 I recently fired a student whose father was so unbelievably overbearing of their kid, and constantly trying to direct me how to teach, that I couldn’t do my job. After such a scarring experience, it was a breath of fresh air to have the parent of a neurodiverse teen asking what they can change to help their kid, and I really enjoyed taking the time to get to know him a bit better“.

Katie is upset that she only got a 60 on her science quiz. There is a bit of confusion as to whether the teacher told the kids that they were going to have a quiz today and Katie did not hear it or not.
