Day #6057 – (Thu., Aug. 6, 2026) – 3D Spiderman Movie

At 10 am this morning I took Bobby to the dentist for a cleaning. He had zero cavities, which he said would be the case as he has been very good with his brushing and flossing. The hygienist told me that his molars are starting to come in, so that will be painful.

I took the kids to see “Spiderman – Brand New Day” in 3D today at the Landmark in Courtenay for the 12 noon show (see photo to the right). Katie was planning to go see it with her classmate Deanna, but that was not to be, so she came with us. Effectively Daddy/Son Day #113 and Daddy/Daughter Day #173.

The showing was in theater #1, which is their largest theater, so we had plenty of space up in the front row. In addition, there are very few movie goers at 12 noon, so we could roam around in comfort. Katie said that the boy who took the tickets goes to Vanier, but she’s not sure where she knows him from, perhaps just passing in the halls.

The movie was quite good, but the Scorpion and the Hulk, which I thought would be main characters, barely appeared. Here’s what ChatGPT said about it: “Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) follows Peter Parker as he tries to rebuild his life after the events of No Way Home, when the world—including MJ and Ned—was made to forget that Peter Parker ever existed. Now largely on his own, Peter throws himself into being Spider-Man, but a new threat forces him into another dangerous fight and brings him into contact with other Marvel heroes. The film marks a fresh chapter for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: a more independent Peter trying to figure out who he is when he can no longer rely on the life and relationships he once had.“.

On the way home Bobby requested that we take the quick route as I sometimes tend to “wander home”. Katie kept teasing him about this, even after he asked her to stop, so he was quite upset. He’s right, we don’t like it when we ask somebody not to do something and they do it anyway.
