Katie started singing this song this afternoon:
———-
Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack
All dressed in black, black, black
With silver buttons, buttons, buttons [butt’ns]
All down her back, back, back.
She asked her mother, mother, mother
for fifty cents, cents, cents
To see the elephants, elephants, elephants
Jump the fence, fence, fence.
They jumped so high, high, high
they reached the sky, sky, sky
And didn’t come back, back, back
Till the 4th of July, ly, ly!
(July can’t walk, walk, walk
July can’t talk, talk, talk
July can’t eat, eat, eat
With a knife and fork, fork, fork)
———-
We were invited by our neighbors for dinner this evening…Katie included. Katie brought her “puppy” (a balloon on a string)…see photo to the left. Our neighbors have an aquarium…and Katie made a bee line for it as soon as she was in the house. She remembered where it was from the last time we were here. Katie really didn’t eat much dinner (a fabulous gumbo), but she sure loved the chocolates that were out on the table for dessert.
We were expecting to interview our first babysitter tonight at 7pm but when my wife rushed back to our house she had already come and gone. She was supposed to come at 7pm but arrived 10 minutes early and left at 7:02pm…just before my wife arrived. When my wife called her she didn’t want to come back. That’s fine…she probably was not a good fit anyway. Two minutes late? Seriously folks…
With the babysitter situation handled my wife came back to join the party. Unfortunately this “Act II” was highlighted by Katie breaking a glass. The hosts were gracious about it and after cleaning up the mess Stephen took time to explain his aquarium fish to Katie and gave her a piano lesson as well.
When we arrived home we realized that we were out of goat’s milk so at 8:40pm I made a bee line for Whole Foods. Just in time…
10:41 pm: “Mommy, I really want something to lick!”
10:46 pm: My wife goes to her room and finds out that she wants to lick something red, i.e. – lollipop…
