Day #6015 – (Thu., June 25, 2026) – Kids Visit Amy

Today is Bobby’s last day of 5th grade… or should I say last half day of 5th grade. He was home by noon. No school tomorrow as the teachers will be meeting and doing their “year end” stuff…

I took both kids to see Amy this afternoon. Katie wanted to see her about her recent autism diagnosis, and I thought I should bring him along to meet her, and see if she could glean any ideas as to why he is missing so much school. Before the visit I mentioned to her that both kids love animals, and if she wanted to bring them around, they would help the kids relax.

Well, both kids LOVED Amy’s animals, her little dog named “Kenny”, and her cat named “Oli”. Kenny had this strange little behavior where she would dig and dig into the hardwood floor and then roll over to sleep. Amy affectionately said that she was “Digging To China”, which was a strange behavior for her given the fact that she doesn’t dig outside. It was hard to get Kenny to sit still for very long, and she ended up in Amy’s arms for a lot of the session. Oli, on the other hand, really took to the kids, and loved to be petted (see photo to the right).

Amy told Katie that our family doctor should be able to prescribe her ADHD meds. Katie plans to get some pills and try them out this summer to see how they might help with her studying before the school year starts.

After the meeting I told the kids that I would treat them to dinner. Bobby wanted McDonalds for the main meal, and a milk shake from Triple O’s, so we went to both. Here’s the take:

  • McDonalds two cheeseburger EVM for Bobby
  • McDonalds vanilla cone for Bobby
  • Triple O’s “Cookies & Cream” milkshake for Bobby
  • Triple O’s combo cheeseburger meal for Katie.
