I was up in the middle of the night and as soon as I was ready to go back to bed Katie started to cry and squeak. I picked her up and made her some like. She wanted to watch some television so we watched a bit of “Oswald”.
There is usually no problem in giving Katie a bath. As soon as you merely suggest that it is bath time she will be at the bathroom door banging and screaming … waiting to get in. I let her soak and play around and as soon as she starts to throw water out onto the bathroom floor I know that it is time to take her out and dry her off. The first thing I do is vigorously dry her off with a baby bath towel (the ones we have have a “hood” on them). I usually say something like “dry, dry, dry” in a quick humorous voice. After that I say “run, run, run” and Katie will zoom out of the door and run around the living room with nothing on for a while (the towel attached to her head so it resembles a cape…like Superman). The next step is to corral her and put some moisturizing cream on her. With a diaper attached Katie is now ready to face the rest of the evening.
We got our new winter sled in the mail this evening (see photo to the right). It is not meant for the downhill, but it has a safety belt and when Katie gets in we will be able to pull her around the yard at the first sign of snow.
This evening Katie was playing with us and the next minute she was up in her high chair. She apparently climbed up there all by herself. We will probably have to either take the high chair away or put it on its side when it is not being used…it’s too dangerous for her to be climbing up and sitting there with no safety belt.
