Katie is home sick today. She threw up in the night but got better as the day progressed. Bobby went to school though, and I picked him up at the usual 2:30 pm. I gave him a box of dates to take into the house. Great for Creami desserts!

I finally got the chance to do a bit of mowing today! I mowed the pasture to the swing (see photo to the left). I’m going to try to do a bit each day moving forward so they don’t turn into hayfields! It rains that much here in the Comox Valley.
I’ve been thinking about this for a while, but NVDA is up so let’s look into this some more…
I think we should get the kids graduation gifts this year since they have done so well… It’s been a hard year with the move and we should reward them… But, what?
These three ideas just dropped on my lap when I was driving the kids…
For Bobby, we got into a discussion about bikes (he brought up a conversation about being too big for his scooter so I tactfully turned it into a discussion about bikes)…
We talked about motor bikes and bicycles and explored all the options. I can give you all the details (after exploring the pros and cons of each) but he said he would prefer of all the options an electric bike as he could ride it every day and not have to worry about carting a dirt bike to areas… He said that it would help him with the hills to Huband School, and one of his friends already has one, so I started exploring options…
It seems that like dirt bikes, he’s in that straddle area between kids and adults… If you get a kids version it will soon be useless as he ages. If you get an adult one, it might be too big for him…
Here’s one that I have my eye on… The Gotrax Nano 14″ Electric Bike! It’s an Amazon choice and seems smaller than the others. If you look at the comments some people bought it for their 10 year old son and daughter. Some complain about it being a battery hazard and don’t get, but from what I can see they don’t talk about it being too big for a 10 year old? I suppose worst case scenario if it is, return it…
Anyway, exploring this option…
2) Another option for Bobby is Lego Technic Kits… I know you said that he loved getting that Lego kit the other day, and I’ve been thinking for a while to just get him one and see what he will do with it… He said some of his kids at school play with them. My thought is that they are much more advanced and he might just catch the fire as they are more mechanized and some even have apps to run them on.
In particular, I saw this Lego Technic Solar System caught my eye… You turn the crank and the moon moves around the earth and they both move around the sun… It has months and stuff to show how much a rotation of this and that works in real time…. Kinda cool!
3) For Katie, the choice is much easier! She wants a Cricut System. We were in Staples returning your stuff and walked past the Cricket Systems and she said how much she would love one but realizes that they are expensive and she can just use your printer for now… I was impressed with her desire to save money, which made me want to get it for her all the more… Having said that, does this do more or less what your laser printer does? I hear people talking about these Cricket systems but don’t really know their “value” over a printer..
Here are two that I have my eye on…
a) Copilot said this was the best for journaling, but it’s out of stock…
b) Cricut “Joy”… Smaller and cheaper than the previous cricket, but seems to cater to the sticker for journaling option more?
