Day #5961 – (Sat., May 2, 2026) – The Antique Store Near Panabo

The photo to the left shows Katie’s “Comfort Cat”!

My wife went to see Tchaikovsky’s Eugine Onegin (based on Pushkin’s versed novel) at the Carmine Cinema with our neighbor Caroline today. It was in Russian, and 4 hours long, with two 30 minute intermissions.

Katie and her mother went shopping this afternoon. They ended up at the antique store near the Panabo Pizza in Courtenay.

I was thinking of taking Bobby out today but he’s still recovering from his sickness of yesterday. He was playing with Ethan online this evening so he might be well enough to go out tomorrow. We’ll see…

I went to see Amy the therapist at noon today. We spent most of the time talking about Katie and how to best support her. I mentioned that Katie was down because of the math contest that she took yesterday and didn’t think she did well on. I mentioned to Amy that I took her out for a drive afterward and told her that she should not fret things like this. Enjoy life more and let “The Universe” bless you in ways that you would have never dreamed of. I told her that this is one of the things that I regret, being too fixated on what I wanted and not noticing the moments when perhaps “The Universe” wanted to bless me even more than I could have physically thought of. She thought that was a great idea and I should continue to support her and help her to not sweat the “small stuff”.

I also told Amy that I’m starting to go back and revisit something I should have done when I was 14…explore the martial arts more. She suggested that this was a great thing that I could do with Bobby, and I think she might be right… Now, to figure out something that will be enticing enough about it to get him away from the screens…

Amy mentioned a bit more about the “Spiritual Meetings” that she is planning to set up this fall once her kids are gone off to college. She said her husband is buying a business and she will have a room in that building that will be perfect to hold meetings. She just doesn’t want to fret about having a talk every week and I told her that this is a natural fit for me and I’m willing to help her out any way I can. Time will tell how this will develop and unfold.

Katie came up with a business idea this evening. Basically an app that helps people with disabilities plan ahead for traveling, so that they can filter out sensory issues and comfortable things that aren’t available. Go for it!
