Day #5999 – (Tue., June 9, 2026) – Building A Ramp!

Bobby rode his bike to school today. You can see his drawing in the photo to the left.

I dropped Katie off at Vanier this morning and then went to Home Depot.

Why Home Depot? Well Bobby is interested in getting some mountain bike ramps. I checked them out online at Amazon and are they ever expensive!

As it turns out, I think building a bike ramp(s) from Home Depot will be a LOT (and I mean LOT) cheaper than buying them from Amazon. A sheet of plywood, some 2×4’s, and some screws are basically all you will need, and that will be about $50. I talked to the guys at Home Depot and they will cut the plywood to order, so I will be able to fit it into the van without the need of renting a truck. The problem is, they will not cut it to specifics, so I will need to actually cut the “curve” for the ramp with a jig saw. I will also need a couple of saw horses to sit the plywood on to cut, and some PVC pipe to follow to give that perfect curve. I even found a YouTube video that outlines the specifics of the build. I showed the video to Bobby and he liked it.

Later this afternoon I took the kids to Miss Daisy’s for their viola/violin lessons.

My wife is going to Duncan for her job tomorrow for a couple of days.

Katie has still not been able to locate the Vanier Vice Principal, Mr. St. Pierre, so she is going to write him an email for future details on the volunteer hours question.
