I took Bobby to violin lesson with Miss Daisy this afternoon while my wife took Katie to a physiotherapy session. The physiotherapy session ended early, so we could have met up somewhere and Bobby transferred to my wife’s van and she take both kids, but we decided to continue on with the original plan. I would drop Bobby off, my wife would arrive with Katie later, and she would bring both kids home.

I see that there is a new condo going up just behind the Dairy Queen (see photo to the right).
The physiotherapy session went well. The therapist identified that Katie had “hypermobility”, not only through the various tests she gave Katie, but also because she has it as well.
Here’s the definition of hypermobility: “Hypermobility is a condition in which a person’s joints move beyond the normal range of motion because the ligaments and connective tissues are more flexible than average. Some people are simply “double-jointed” and have no problems, while others experience pain, frequent sprains, joint instability, fatigue, or joints that partially or completely dislocate. In some cases, hypermobility is part of a connective tissue disorder, such as hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) or Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD). Treatment typically focuses on strengthening the muscles around the joints, improving stability, and managing symptoms, since the underlying connective tissue can’t be permanently tightened.“.
The therapist suggested that Katie do pilates for now, and weight training after she reaches adulthood.
I made a run to Costco this evening. Milk is an “always”, as are blueberry muffins for Bobby. I also picked up various chicken meats, rye bread, aged cheddar cheese, carrots, cans of coconut milk, orange juice, watermelon juice, and apple juice. My wife wanted me to pick up a taco kit, but they were out, so I picked up a donair platter. For some reason both Costco and the Superstore are out of taco kits these days.
The doorknobs for the kid’s bedrooms arrived and now the handle on the house door is not working as well. We’re thinking of getting an actual door knob this time, rather than a lever, so that Maple will not be able to claw at it and open it.
I went to McD for a black coffee this evening and came home around 11:30 pm. I thought I would take an almost midnight ride down the end of our street on my new eTrike! It has a little headlight so no problem! Success, I went down to the end where the Cranberry Farm is, and back. It’s going to take me a while to get comfortable on it as I haven’t riden a bike in a while, and an eTrike never, but tonight was a success.
I see that some of the blog posts from last year at this time are rather “sparce” due to the family being in Lithuania and lack up updates at the end of the day. So, Katie sent me the URL’s to the videos she created of the trip and I’m going to gradually update the appropriate blog pages with these details.
