This morning the kids and I played “Cards Against Humanity” with the cards that Katie devised (see photo to the right). She only had a few, so the decisions were few, but it was fun anyway.
This afternoon I took Katie and Bobby to Dollarama at the corner of Lerwick & Ryan, and said that they could pick out one thing. Bobby wanted to get one thing + Juicy Fruit gum, but I said “One Thing”, so it was… They chose squirt guns, so I got one as well, and a desk of cards for the family. We then went to McDonalds across the street where they got food and I got a black coffee. We used the cards to play “Old Maid”, and then “Concentration (see photo to the right).
ChatGPT gave me this definition: “Old Maid (still the most common name today, though some modern editions use more neutral titles like The Odd Card or The Lonely Queen) is a classic children’s card game in which players try to make matching pairs while avoiding being left with the one unmatched card at the end of the game. Played with either a special Old Maid deck or a regular deck with one Queen removed, players first discard any pairs from their hands, then take turns drawing a face-down card from the player next to them, immediately discarding any new pairs they make. The game continues until only one unmatched card remains, and the player holding it—the Old Maid—loses. The traditional name has been used for nearly two centuries and remains the one most people recognize, although some publishers now use more neutral names because the term “old maid,” once meaning an unmarried older woman, is considered dated or potentially insensitive.“
Bobby was up since 4 am this morning! Maple woke him up! She paws at his bed, then starts barking, till she is tended to! As a result, he crashed this afternoon and slept for hours! I told him I was so proud of him continuing on the daily tradition of napping!
My wife arrived back from Duncan at 8 pm this evening. She had been working since 7 am, then with the long 2-hour drive, she went to bed this evening as feasibly possible.
I went to McDonalds this evening and when I got back I took the eTrike out in the dark. I had been doing some reading on how the display works, and changed “assist modes”, and even got the eTrike to go to the Barn Suite and back to the garage. It’s been a while since I’ve been on a bike, so it was a bit awkward for me, and certainly not a prize winning run, but I did it… It will get better from here…
