This morning I fixed the “suspension” problem on Bobby’s new bike this morning. If you will recall, he says that with suspension on the rear tire he can’t get enough weight on the pedals to propel him forward fast. So, I took the rear wheel suspension away with the aid of some washers (see photo to the right). Bobby checked out the bike fix I made and agreed, it works!
My wife took Katie to the Sid Williams Theatre this afternoon to see Come From Away, the acclaimed Canadian musical based on the remarkable true story of what happened in Gander, Newfoundland, following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The production at Sid Williams Theatre is presented by the Comox Valley Youth Music Centre.
Here’s a bit about it:
“When U.S. airspace was closed, 38 planes carrying nearly 7,000 passengers were diverted to the small Newfoundland community, where local residents opened their homes and hearts to complete strangers. The musical tells the story of those extraordinary days, mixing humour, emotion, music, and that unmistakable East Coast spirit.”
This afternoon Bobby and I went on a bike ride for the first time together, down to the end of our street and back. He on his eBike and I on my eTrike. We event went down the trail that leads to behind our house for a bit, but a barrier prevented us from going further. Bobby tried out the eTrike and agreed, it takes a bit getting used to as it balances different. Then we rode home.
On the ride home we decided that we would go to DQ for an ice cream cone and Daddy/Son Chat #32. Bobby said that he wanted to try out their Blizzard Meal. He got the Blizzard with Reese’s pieces and also an iced tea. I didn’t realize he liked ice tea but he said that he first tried it on the train to Paris last year and loved it. On the drive home we tried to figure out why DQ burgers were so good and Bobby figured it out…unlike McDonalds, they toast the buns!
When we got home my wife met us at the car. Bryston had a birthday party today! She got the invite via messenger and didn’t put it on her calendar. So Bobby got his swim trunks, got on his eBike, and was off to Bryston’s for his birthday pool party. Bryston lives close by, near Isaac!
This evening I went to McDonalds for a coffee and picked up some supplies at Thrifty Foods. My wife wanted me to pick up milk and Katie wanted potato chips and chocolate.
