Day #6040 – (Mon., Jul. 20, 2026) – Katie Tries The eTrike!

My wife went to work at the Comox Valley hospital today from 7 am to 3 pm. She will be doing this tomorrow, and Wednesday as well. Her main job is to stock supplies, which is a lot better than emptying bed pans!

I took the kids to see Dairy for their viola/violin lessons this afternoon at 1:15 pm. I gave them the two free chocolate chip muffins that I picked up at McDonalds last night. Bobby ate one on the way, and Katie took hers home.

Katie was talking about her flexibility on the way and I said like Gumby, the cartoon character from my youth.

After dropping the kids off I stopped off at Price’s Locksmith to finally get the eTrike spare key issue resolved. This time I took the eTrike battery so he would have the exact lock to deal with. He tried out various keys, and just when I thought he would say he didn’t have a solution, he found one! It was a Honda key! He told me that a lot of these eBike manufacturers have unusually shaped keys in order to get out of patent issues.

The kids were planning on going to the river and try out the squirt guns that they bought the other day, but Katie was tired. Bobby took a bath.

Just before the sun went down I decided to take the eTrike out. Katie agreed to go with me, so she rode her new bike and I rode the eTrike, to the end of our street and back. I let her try it out (see photo to the right) and she didn’t like it at all. It does take a bit of getting used to, but I told her just like driving, you do a little bit at a time, and you get more comfortable, and then you gain confidence and can do a bit more. Bobby didn’t care for the eTrike either, so I guess I don’t have to worry about the kids running off with it… 🙂

This evening I ended up at McDonalds. I had enough points to get a medium coffee for free. Rather than black tonight, I had two Splendas! Spluring! 🙂
