Bobby was not feeling well so he stayed home from school today and I dropped Katie off at Vanier at 10:20 am. You can see the “Done Boy & Dog” in the photo to the right.
I texted Katie that if she wanted to try out Bobby’s new bike and see if it was much better than her own, we would get her one, but I never heard back. Guess she’s fine with her bike, at least for now.
After picking Katie up at 3:10 pm we went for a drive, and #Daddy/Daughter Day #170. We stopped off at McDonalds where she picked up an ice cream cone and chicken nuggets. She’s trying to determine not only which University she wants to go to, but what program. She’s been hearing that people think business is not very hard and thinks that she might be pressured to do science or law or medicine since her grades are so good. She also said that she thinks she would like UVIC better than UBC but wants to be sure to get into the right program, which UBC will probably provide. Time will tell. She asked me if I was telling her she should go into business as that’s what she wanted to hear but I told her no, business is what I should have gone into as that’s where my real passion is. I went into Computer Science as people were telling me I was smart and should go the engineering route.
On the way home we swung by the vet on Cliffe Avenue to pick up Batman’s meds.
With the bike situation wrapped up, the next item on the agenda is the computer situation. My current thinking is that I will go to Costco and get their computer and give it to Bobby. It has a NVIDIA graphics card and will run Gorilla Tag VR seamlessly. If not, Costco has a convenient return policy and since it’s just down the road it’s easy to return. Once Bobby has this set up Katie will get the computer he already owns. She can run Planet Zoo, her favorite software game these days, without problems, but she has another game she tried out and the trailer on it lagged a bit. Thus said, we might need to get Katie a new computer at some point, but since she can play Planet Zoo for sure she should be happy for now.
We can revisit the bike and computer issue in the fall, or perhaps graduation gifts next year. If Bobby really gets into mountain biking there are $2000 mountain bikes available, and another Costco computer at about $1799 is also on the agenda for Katie if she really needs it.
Bobby felt well enough to take his new bike to the barn and back this evening. He really enjoyed that.
