Day #5996 – (Sat., June 6, 2026) – Esca & Zephyr Sleep Over!

Bobby felt well enough today, at least well enough to have a sleep over with Esca and Zephyr, two of his classmates. Esca’s mother Laura has a concussion and eager to “farm” her kids out.

For starters the three boys went to the pool at 1 pm. They then came back to our place for a late lunch. They wanted waffles, and the main house was out of Nutella and maple syrup so my wife borrowed some of my maple syrup. I suggested she keep it, add some PB2 and cocoa powder to it, with some milk to make it more liquid, and voila! Instant “Nutella Like” spread for tomorrows pancakes/waffles. For dinner the boys had Islanders Pizza.

The boys took the bikes out, threw axes with that Costco game we got when we first moved here, and Bobby showed them a few songs on the violin.

One of the boys barged into Katie’s room without knocking and she was not too pleased about that. Bobby came to apologize and said that it was the other boy, not him.

The boys were up late tonight (surprise, surprise!)… All three fit handily into Bobby’s room (see photo to the right). My wife was saying that there was enough room to fit 5 more boys in it. Katie would be thrilled at that notion! They dozed off close to 11 pm!

Katie helped out with the mowing this evening. I haven’t been able to get to it this year due to my leg problems so the pastures have turned into quite the “hay field”. Our little mower handled the task handily, but you had to make sure that you didn’t go too fast. I told Katie that we will let the clippings dry in the field, and some will just blow away, and then next week we tackle the same field in the other direction, like a criss-cross. Worked wonders for me on the motel fields growing up. After this criss-cross you’re back in business again!

Evelyna, the kid’s cousin, got married today in England! Katie was thinking of going but it was not to be.
