Day #6046 – (Sun., Jul. 26, 2026) – Winter Session = $18137.32

My wife and Katie left Vancouver early this morning and made the ferry by 11am. They arrived home in Courtenay around 3 pm this afternoon.

We learned that all first year students at UBC are required to purchase their meal plan and it costs over $7000 per year! For the “Winter Session”, which goes from September 5th to April 28th, a single room with a private bathroom is $10,425 + $7,712.32 for the meal plan = $18,137.32

Apparently we will be getting thousands of dollars in funding for Katie’s therapy through April of next year.

I stopped off at Shar-Kare this afternoon and picked up some shavings for the chickens. The black cat with the “smoker’s meow” jumped up on the counter for a pat.

I reheated the fries we bought at KFC yesterday (see photo to the right). This time I used 275 degrees and 2 minutes and Bobby loved them! Incidentally, I tried this with Katie and she hated them, so go figure…

This evening I took Katie out for a drive. She drove a bit on Dove Creek Road and then again in Amy’s neighborhood.

When we arrived home we played a game of “Cards Against Humanity”. Fun game, but Katie needs to work on some of the verbiage on some of the cards so that they make more sense. All four of us played, and Bobby won!

Bobby is happy to have mom home as she will now take care of Maple and not wake him up in the middle of the night!
