Katie got up around 5am this morning and my wife and I had breakfast, bundled her up, and headed off for the North Carolina Zoo. There was a little cloud overhead in Cary, but the forecast said that there would not be rain til the afternoon.
Just before we reached the zoo Katie got up so we stopped for breakfast at Subway. We were the only ones there…and it took a while for the manager to finish mopping the floor before she could wait on us (go figure). At any rate, we had the 12″ flatbread breakfast sub with bacon and eggs for $5.00…quite the deal.
We decided that we would visit the Africa portion of the zoo today (the other portion is North American Animals). We got to see almost everything except the lions (they were hiding somewhere). She really liked the gorillas (see photo to the left) and especially the Aviary. The aviary is closed shut so that the birds will not fly away, so we could take Katie out of the stroller and let her roam around at will. She would wander up this path and down the other path. We could have probably stayed there all day, but we packed her up and headed off to see the albino alligators.
As we were heading towards the exit the heavens opened up and boy did it ever rain. We were soaked, but fortunately Katie’s stroller has a plastic cover so she was perfectly dry. My wife and I not so much.
On the drive home we stopped off in Sanford to see the Lowe’s that was damaged by the tornado last Saturday. We then got a couple of Arby’s Jr. Roast Beef Sandwiches and headed home.
